Grade 316 stainless steel

Not all stainless steel is the same. This urn is made from grade 316, which offers stronger resistance to corrosion than the more common grade 304. That matters whether the urn is kept indoors or placed outside, where it will face moisture, temperature changes and UV exposure over time. The brushed finish is part of the manufacturing process: the direction of the grind means light catches the surface at different angles, giving the urn a quiet, shifting gloss rather than a flat shine. Stainless steel, also known as RVS or inox, is an alloy of iron, chromium, nickel and carbon. It requires no special maintenance and will not degrade over time.

Made by hand in the Netherlands

This urn for ashes is made by hand in the Netherlands by specialist craftspeople using high-quality materials. Because each piece is produced individually rather than batch-manufactured, the lead time is four to six weeks from order. Filling and sealing the urn

Everything you need to fill and seal the urn is included with your order. The process is straightforward, and can also be handled by the crematorium or funeral director if you prefer.

How to fill the urn

An ash bag and cable tie are supplied. You can use the ash bag as a funnel, fill it, secure it with the cable tie, and tuck it fully into the opening. If you prefer to place the ashes directly into the urn without the bag, a separate funnel is recommended to avoid spillage. Once filled, clean the inner seating edge so it is free from dust, grease and moisture, then press the lid into place in a single firm movement until it sits flush. The seal is airtight and resistant to high tensile force. If the urn ever needs to be reopened for any reason, the team's technicians can do that for you.

Practical reassurance

The grade 316 steel construction means the urn is robust enough to hold ashes directly, without an ash bag, though the bag is supplied if you want the option of moving the ashes at a later point. The urn is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It carries a ten-year guarantee, and there is a 30-day return period on all memorial products if you need time to decide.

Laser engraving

Laser engraving is available as an option for this urn. A computer-guided laser works directly into the steel surface with high precision, producing imagery in greyscale or colour. The quality of the result depends partly on the resolution of the file you supply: the sharper the source image, the cleaner the engraving. When ordering, you can select the engraving option and upload your image directly through the product menu. A name, a date, a photograph or a personal symbol can all be considered.
