Ceramic keepsake urn with silver-coloured heart, understated and meaningful

This ceramic keepsake urn is designed to hold part of a loved one’s cremation ashes. Its strong, cube-shaped form conveys stability and calm, while the refined fracture in the design makes the loss tangible. The silver-coloured heart forms the warm centre of this keepsake urn and symbolises love that remains.

Thanks to its modest size, this keepsake urn is especially suitable as a personal memorial, for example when ashes are shared within the family or when you would like to keep one tangible remembrance close by. Discreet in presence, it fits harmoniously into almost any interior.

Ceramic as a material for keepsake urns

Ceramic has been a widely used and valued material for urns and keepsake urns for decades. It is made from carefully selected natural ingredients that are mixed into a workable ceramic clay. With this clay, skilled ceramicists create characterful pieces, each with its own look and finish.

A ceramic keepsake urn is known for its durability, warm appearance, and timeless quality. Because ceramic is formed hollow and fired at high temperatures, it is very well suited for long-term indoor keeping of ashes.

The making process of this ceramic keepsake urn

This ceramic keepsake urn is produced in several carefully controlled steps:

  1. A plaster model is created from the original design drawing as the base form.
  2. The plaster mould is clamped together and filled with liquid clay.
  3. Once the clay layer reaches the desired thickness, the excess clay is poured out of the mould.
  4. The keepsake urn is left to dry. After drying, the surface is carefully smoothed and seams are neatly finished.
  5. The keepsake urn is then fired at approximately 900°C.
  6. Next, the glaze is applied and a second firing follows at around 1,050°C.
  7. The silver-coloured heart is applied by hand and checked for finish and quality.

After these firings, the clay permanently becomes ceramic, resulting in a durable, refined keepsake urn with an understated and meaningful appearance.
