Ceramic urn with silver-coloured heart, modern design and warm symbolism
Made from ceramic, this urn blends a sleek, contemporary design with emotion. Its strong shape symbolises stability and presence, while the subtle fracture in the design reflects the loss of a loved one. The striking heart forms the warm centre of the urn and stands for lasting love, connection, and remembrance.
The balance of form, symbolism, and material makes this urn a contemporary memorial object that conveys calm and meaning without drawing undue attention. It is designed to take its place in your home in a respectful and understated way.
Ceramic as a material for urns
Ceramic has been one of the most commonly used and highly valued materials for urn making for decades. It is created from carefully selected natural ingredients that are mixed into a workable ceramic clay. With this clay, skilled ceramicists craft distinctive urns, each with its own character, appearance, and finish.
A ceramic urn is known for its durability, warm look, and timeless quality. Because ceramic is formed hollow and fired at high temperatures, it is particularly suitable for the long-term indoor keeping of cremation ashes.
The production process of this ceramic urn
This ceramic cube urn is made in several carefully controlled steps:
- A plaster model is made from the original design drawing. This plaster model serves as the base form for the ceramic products.
- The plaster mould is assembled and filled with liquid clay.
- Once the clay layer reaches the desired thickness, the excess clay is poured out of the mould.
- The urn is then left to dry. After drying, the surface is carefully smoothed and any seams created by the mould parts are neatly finished.
- The urn is then fired at approximately 900°C.
- Next, the glaze is applied and the urn is fired again, this time at around 1,050°C.
- Any decorative elements, such as the heart, are added by hand and checked for finish and quality.
After these firings, the clay permanently becomes ceramic, resulting in a durable, sturdy urn with a refined appearance.
