That structure is the foundation for two to three thick lacquer layers, each one mixed with plaster and rinsed with water before the next is applied. After that comes the colouring, followed by several coats of varnish. The urn is then smoothed and polished by hand. This is not a fast production process. Each stage contributes to the solidity and gloss you see in the finished piece, and the surface holds its clarity over time.

Glassfibre brings together two qualities that matter in practice. It is notably light to handle, and it is genuinely durable. You can move the urn without effort, and you do not need to treat it as though it were fragile. Glassfibre is a resilient material. Where ceramic would break in an accident, glassfibre flexes. The lacquer layers protect the surface against dust and the light moisture typical of indoor spaces.

This urn for ashes is designed for indoor use only. Prolonged exposure to rain or outdoor conditions falls outside what this urn is made for. Used indoors as intended, it will remain in excellent condition for many years. The urn is suitable for use with or without an ash bag, giving you the choice that feels right for you.
