A butterfly chosen for a reason
If you are looking for an urn that says something about the person rather than simply marking their absence, the image matters. The blue butterfly on this cremation urn carries meaning found across many cultures: the passage from one state to another, and the idea that letting go does not mean forgetting. But symbolism only holds if it fits. If the person you are remembering loved colour, loved the natural world, loved something that catches the eye without demanding it, then this image is likely to feel right.
What the butterfly means in practice
You are choosing an image to live alongside someone's memory. A short engraved name, a year, or a phrase they used often can be added via an engraving plate, turning this urn for ashes into something recognisable to everyone who loved the same person. If you are unsure what wording would suit, or how to lay it out, we are happy to think it through with you.
Built up by hand, layer by layer
This urn is made through a process that requires both patience and precision, and the result reflects that. A cast framework of glassfibre, resin and plaster forms the base structure. Two or three thick coats of lacquer mixed with plaster are then applied, with the urn rinsed in water between each coat. Colour is added next, followed by a first coat of varnish, then a second. After the final varnish layer, the surface is smoothed and polished to a deep, even finish. The butterfly sits against that deep black ground as a considered focal point.
What glassfibre offers
Glassfibre combines properties that few other materials match in a single piece. It is light to handle, holds colour reliably over time, and is far more resilient than ceramic or porcelain under everyday indoor conditions. There is no need to treat it with the same caution you might extend to a glass or earthenware piece.
Practical details worth knowing
Care, placement and durability
This funeral urn is made for indoor use, placed wherever feels right to you. The multiple varnish layers protect the surface from everyday handling, and glassfibre does not carry the fragility risk of ceramic. Keep the urn away from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent any gradual fading of the finish. Clean the surface with a dry cloth or one that is very lightly dampened, nothing more. The urn is suitable for use with or without an ash bag. A 24-month guarantee applies.
Personalisation
If you would like to personalise the urn, an engraving plate can be added. It can carry a name, a birth year and death year placed side by side, a short phrase, or simply a name on its own. Sometimes a name is enough.
