A lotus in steel

Choosing an urn is a quiet, careful act. The Stainless Steel Lotus urn makes that choice feel considered rather than overwhelming: a drop-shaped body encircled by a full lotus leaf crown, petals gathering around a central bud to create something that holds the eye and settles the mind.

Form and symbolism

The lotus has carried meaning across cultures for centuries. It grows from still water and rises upward, and that movement, from depth toward light, has long been understood as a symbol of endurance and continuity. On this cremation urn, the leaf crown wraps the body in a continuous ring of petals, forming a complete flower rather than a surface pattern. It reads as whole. It sits naturally on a shelf, a windowsill, or beside a memorial stone, and it belongs in a modern interior just as readily as alongside natural stone or glass.

Grade 316 stainless steel

This urn is made from grade 316 stainless steel, and that distinction matters. Grade 316 contains a higher proportion of chromium and nickel than the more common grade 304, giving it significantly stronger resistance to corrosion over time. The brushed, directional finish means light catches the surface at different angles, giving the metal a shifting, quiet lustre that changes subtly depending on where the urn is placed. Stainless steel requires almost no maintenance and holds its finish through years of handling and exposure.

Because this urn for ashes is rated for both indoor and outdoor use, it can sit at home, stand in a garden, or be placed alongside an outdoor memorial without any concern about the material deteriorating.

Made by hand, with honesty about timing

There is a difference between an urn that has been produced and one that has been made. This one is the latter.

Handcrafted in the Netherlands

Each urn is shaped and finished by hand in the Netherlands, by specialist craftspeople working with high-grade materials. Because it is made individually rather than factory-produced, the lead time is four to six weeks. In practice it is often ready sooner, but a six-week window is given honestly to avoid disappointment. If you need a clearer delivery estimate before ordering, the team can check this for you directly.

Filling and sealing

Everything needed to fill and seal the urn is included. The closure uses a double-sided, high-adhesion tape rated for significant tensile force, forming an airtight seal once the cap is pressed flush. Ashes can be placed directly into the urn or within the supplied ash bag. Using the ash bag is worth considering if you think you may want to move or transfer the ashes at some point. Full instructions are provided, and if you would prefer, the crematorium or funeral director can handle the filling entirely. Should the urn ever need to be reopened for any reason, the specialist team can take care of that too.

Practical considerations

Grade 316 stainless steel does not rust, does not absorb moisture, and will not degrade with prolonged outdoor exposure. The airtight seal protects the contents fully. This cremation urn carries a ten-year guarantee, and if you change your mind after receiving it, there is a 30-day return window on all memorial products.

Personalisation and a smaller version

If you would like the urn to carry something personal, laser engraving is available as an option, applied directly to the steel surface by a computer-guided laser. The result can be rendered in greyscale or in colour, and you can include a name, a date, a short phrase, or an image. The finer the resolution of the file you provide, the more precise the finished engraving will be. You can upload your choice when placing your order, and if you are unsure what to include, we are glad to talk it through with you.

Also available as a keepsake urn

The Lotus design is also made as a keepsake urn, for those who wish to keep a smaller portion of the ashes separately. You will find it in the mini urns category.
