A candle that holds more than light

A lit candle is one of the oldest ways of saying someone is remembered. This stainless steel urn candle gives that instinct a permanent form: beneath the tealight sits a sealed chamber that holds ashes, so lighting a candle becomes something quietly significant each time you do it.

The six-angle form and what it does with light

The six-angle shape is not simply decorative. Each facet catches light at a slightly different angle, producing a shifting gloss across the surface as the light moves around it. This is a direct result of the directional grinding applied during production: the surface is worked in a single consistent direction, so the reflections have rhythm rather than randomness. It is a detail that rewards attention without demanding it.

Grade 316 stainless steel

The steel used is grade 316, a marine-grade alloy of iron, chromium, nickel and carbon. Grade 316 offers considerably stronger resistance to corrosion than the more common grade 304, which matters whether the urn is placed outdoors, near a coast, or simply somewhere exposed to changing conditions over time. It does not rust or stain, and requires no special maintenance. The urn is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Made by hand, with an honest lead time

Each urn candle is made by hand in the Netherlands by specialist craftspeople using high-grade materials. Stainless steel at this level demands precision at every stage, from forming and grinding to finishing and sealing, and that is reflected in what arrives. Because each piece is individually produced, the lead time is four to six weeks from order.

Lead time and ordering

In practice, orders are often dispatched sooner than six weeks, but that timeframe is given honestly to avoid disappointment. If you need to know the current lead time before ordering, you are welcome to ask via chat or email and we will give you a straight answer.

Filling the urn candle

Everything needed to fill and seal the chamber is included with the urn. The closure uses double-sided tape with high tensile strength, creating an airtight seal. An ash bag is supplied, but ashes can also be placed directly into the chamber: the grade 316 steel and its airtight seal make this perfectly safe. If you would prefer not to fill the urn yourself, your crematorium or funeral director can do so, and our technicians are able to assist if the urn ever needs to be reopened at a later point.

Practical considerations: durability, guarantee and returns

Grade 316 stainless steel is one of the more robust materials available for a memorial piece kept in a variable environment. The airtight seal means moisture cannot enter the chamber, whether the urn is placed on a windowsill, in a garden, or somewhere more exposed. A 10-year guarantee applies to this cremation urn, and there is a 30-day return period on all memorial items, so you can order with confidence and without pressure.

Personalisation through laser engraving

Laser engraving is available and applied directly to the steel surface. A computer-guided laser cuts into the surface with precision, reproducing images in greyscale or colour. The quality of the result depends on the resolution of the image file you supply: the clearer the file, the sharper the result. When you place your order, you will be guided through the options and can upload your chosen image, name or text at that stage.

What it means to light it

Light has been used in memorial settings across cultures for centuries, not as a grand gesture but as a small, repeated one. Every time you light this urn for ashes, you are doing something you might have done anyway. That ordinariness is part of what gives it meaning. The six-angle form catches the movement of the flame in the steel, and the chamber beneath holds what it holds, quietly and securely.

If you would like to talk through engraving options, lead times or anything else before deciding, we are happy to help at whatever pace suits you.
