A quiet presence that stays
Some urns ask to be noticed. The Memento does something different. Its deep black sphere holds its ground through stillness, not decoration. If you are looking for something that carries real presence without competing with the room around it, this is worth your attention.
Ceramic craftsmanship, visible in every piece
The Memento is cast from a plaster mould and then hand-smoothed before it goes into the kiln. That process demands patience and precision in equal measure. Each urn is fired twice: first at 900°C to harden the clay body, then again at 1,050°C once the satin glaze has been applied. That second firing bonds the glaze directly into the ceramic surface, producing the Memento's characteristic even black sheen. The colour you see is the result of that process, not a layer of paint or foil. Because each piece is hand-finished, no two urns are identical.
Why ceramic holds up over time
Ceramic has been used to make objects of lasting significance for thousands of years. It holds its colour and surface well, requires very little upkeep, and is well suited to an indoor setting where it will be handled with care. The Memento can be used with or without an ash bag, and is designed for indoor use.
A form that means something
The sphere is not an arbitrary shape. It has no beginning and no end. If the bond you shared with the person you have lost felt continuous, that quality is present here. You do not need to name it. The Memento sits naturally on a windowsill, a shelf, or in a corner you have set aside for the purpose. Its black surface draws the eye gently and holds it there.
Placement and interior
The Memento's contemporary design works across a range of interiors, from spare and minimal to more richly decorated spaces. It is intended for indoor use only.
Practical things worth knowing
Ceramic is a durable material, but it is not impervious to impact. Always handle the Memento with both hands and keep it away from situations where it might be knocked or dropped. The double-fired glaze layer offers good protection under normal day-to-day conditions, but the urn is not waterproof and should not be exposed to moisture or damp. To clean it, a dry cloth is sufficient; a lightly dampened cloth can be used if needed. Nothing more is required.
Receiving and using the urn
The Memento is suitable for use with or without an ash bag. When your urn arrives, check it carefully for any damage that may have occurred in transit. If you have any concerns, get in touch promptly so we can help.
Making it yours
The Memento is supplied as it is: composed and considered. If you would like to personalise it, engraving is available, and a name, a date, or a short phrase can be added. It does not change the urn, but it does make it specific to the person you are remembering. If you would like to talk through the options, we are happy to do that with you at whatever pace suits.
