Made in a working pottery

This keepsake urn is made in a modern pottery where craft is taken seriously at every stage. Ceramic demands patience: the clay is formed precisely, and the magnolia decoration is painted by hand before the piece is fired and glazed. The glaze is water-based, sprayed over the painted surface so that the colours disappear beneath it, then re-emerge through the firing process richer and more intense than before. The kiln reaches between 1,050 and 1,250 degrees centigrade, and the result is a glass-like, fully transparent coating that protects the painted surface and deepens the colour. Practical things worth knowing

Ceramic handles changing conditions well, but it is not frost-proof. During periods of prolonged cold, the material can be damaged by ice forming within it. If you plan to place this cremation urn outside, choose a sheltered spot and bring it indoors during hard frosts. This one precaution will keep it intact for many years. The urn is not suitable for use with a candle or tea light inside. It is sealed at the base, and adhesive can be used to make that seal permanent if you prefer.
