A shape that holds grief and steadiness in equal measure

When you are looking for something that acknowledges the weight of loss without dwelling in it, the handmade ceramic teardrop urn 'Ohm' offers exactly that balance. The form is drawn from a tear, yet it reads as composed and still. Sincere, rather than sentimental.

Craftsmanship you can see in every detail

Each urn begins with clay, built up by hand on a potter's wheel or shaped through a casting mould. It is fired twice. The first firing, known as bisque firing, takes place at around 950°C, hardening the clay into a stable, durable body. The characteristic green-blue glaze is then applied by hand before a second firing at approximately 1,200°C, which fuses the glaze entirely to the surface, creating a dense, glassy finish. This is not a decorative step; it is the process that gives the urn its longevity.

What the name 'Ohm' carries

The name refers to the universal sound that appears across many spiritual traditions as a symbol of continuity and connection. Not as an abstract idea, but as something felt: the bond you shared with the person you have lost has not disappeared. It has taken a different form. This cremation urn gives that thought a quiet, tangible presence in your home.

Each piece is genuinely unique

Because glaze reactions during firing cannot be fully controlled, every urn varies slightly in tone and surface texture. The green-blue colour can range from deep and muted to bright and layered. This is not inconsistency; it is the evidence of a hand-made object. No two are exactly alike, just as no two lives are.

Practical and carefully considered

This urn for ashes holds the full volume of cremated remains, with or without an ash bag, so there is no need to think about dividing or finding a separate storage solution. It is designed for indoor use.

Living with a ceramic urn

High-fired ceramic is hard and stable. The glaze layer protects the surface from moisture absorption and discolouration, but ceramic does not flex under impact. Choose a flat, stable surface away from direct sunlight to preserve the colour over time, and keep the urn in a position where it is unlikely to be knocked. These are small, practical considerations that help protect something that matters.

Personalisation and placement

If you would like to give the urn a more personal setting, it sits well on a wooden or stone base, or alongside an object that held meaning for the person you are remembering. The quiet colour of the 'Ohm' fits almost any interior and draws no attention to itself. It simply holds its place.

Take your time with it. If this feels right, you will know. If you would like help with placement or personalisation options, we are happy to think it through with you.
