The handmade ceramic mini urn ‘Ares’ gives that small amount a personal place. Its organic texture is inspired by the rugged surface of Mars and refers to strength, change and the sense of something greater than everyday life.

The meaning behind Ares

Ares is the Greek god associated with the Roman Mars. The name reflects the inspiration behind the design. The relief of the urn is reminiscent of an irregular landscape with natural variations in height and texture. Its appearance therefore changes subtly when viewed from a different angle.

Shaped and glazed by hand

The ceramic is shaped by hand and carefully dried before being fired for the first time at approximately 950 °C. The glaze is then applied by hand. During a second firing at around 1,200 °C, the glaze fuses with the ceramic surface, creating the characteristic beige finish.

No two mini urns are completely alike

Clay, glaze and temperature react slightly differently during every firing. Subtle differences can therefore occur in colour, texture and shape. These variations are part of handmade ceramic and make each piece recognisably artisan-made.

A personal place of remembrance at home

The Ares mini urn is intended for indoor use only. You can display the urn on its own or combine it with a photograph, memorial candle or personal object. This allows you to create a place of remembrance that reflects the person you wish to remember.

Caring for ceramic

Ceramic is sturdy and retains its shape, but it can break if dropped or subjected to a hard impact. Place the mini urn on a dry, level and stable surface where it cannot easily be knocked over.
