A blue tit that always seems close by
Some people had a gift for noticing small things. A bird on the windowsill, the sound of the garden in the morning, the natural world simply carrying on. If you are looking for a way to keep that love visible at home, this hand-painted cremation urn speaks a language you will recognise.
Hand-painted ceramic from a skilled pottery studio
This urn is made in a working pottery studio where craft is taken seriously. The artist has developed proprietary paint recipes that, once fired under a transparent glaze, produce colours with real depth and clarity. Painting detail at this scale demands complete focus. Each brushstroke is applied on a paint tile using brushes chosen for their precision. The glaze powder is dissolved in water and sprayed onto the ceramic at a carefully controlled thickness. After several days of drying, the piece is fired at between 1,050 and 1,250 degrees Celsius. At that temperature the glaze powder melts into a transparent glass layer that both protects the painted decoration and intensifies the colour. That is not standard production. You can see the craft in every detail of the blue tit.
More than decoration
The design of this urn is refined enough that most people would not recognise it as a cremation urn at all. That is part of what makes it work so well on a windowsill, a bookshelf or a sideboard. Visitors are at ease, and you have no need to hide anything of who it represents. The bond you shared remains present in something that catches the eye every day, much as a blue tit always draws the eye when it arrives in the garden.
Candle holder included
The vase-form urns in this range are designed to hold a tea light or small candle. A simple ritual that can carry quiet significance on the days when you want to mark a moment.
Suitable for use with or without an ash bag
This urn accommodates both approaches. You choose how you prefer to store the ashes.
Practical care and placement
Ceramic is a sturdy and long-lasting material, but it does best in a fixed, stable position indoors. The transparent glaze formed during firing shields the painted surface from dust and light, and the exterior is easy to keep clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can dull the glaze. For indoor use, which is what this urn is designed for, the material will hold its quality for many years.
Made to your wishes
If you would like this urn, or an urn with a different scene, painted to a personal brief, that is possible. You might have in mind a particular bird your loved one watched for, a favourite flower, or a landscape that meant something to them. Get in touch via the contact form and the artist will speak with you directly to discuss what you have in mind.
