Layers of coloured glass are added by hand, the butterfly motif is applied, and the piece is then submerged in clear molten crystal, which encases everything beneath a deep, luminous outer layer. The gold butterfly sits inside the glass, not on it. That distinction matters: the design cannot chip, fade or be rubbed away.

A wooden mould ensures that every urn holds a consistent shape and volume. The finish, however, is always its own. Handblown glass does not repeat itself exactly, and neither does the butterfly: recognisable as a motif, but never identical to any other piece.
