When the light catches it, they feel close again
A candle holder and keepsake urn in one, made from Bohemian Crystal glass with a gold crackle finish. If you are looking for something that sits quietly in your home and still carries real meaning, this piece was made for exactly that.
Hand-blown from Bohemian Crystal glass
Each piece is made by hand using a process that takes genuine skill and patience. A bubble of molten glass is attached to a blowing pipe, then successive layers of coloured glass are built up around it. Decorative elements are added before the whole piece is submerged in molten glass, forming an outer layer of clear crystal. That final layer produces the light-catching, refractive quality that makes this urn so distinctive. Shape and volume are kept consistent using a blowing pipe and wooden mould, while the surface finish remains individual to each piece. With handmade glass, that variation is unavoidable and it is also precisely what makes it worth having.
Gold and crackle as carriers of memory
The crackle pattern, that fine network of lines beneath the crystal surface, is created by cooling the glass in a controlled way and then reheating it. The result is a web of hairline fractures that catches and scatters light. Alongside the gold layer, it produces a quality of shine that shifts through the day as light changes and the candle moves. You can light it on a day when you need to, and let it do the rest. The bond you shared finds a fixed place here.
A symbolic amount of ashes
This keepsake urn is designed to hold a symbolic portion of ashes rather than the full volume. It is a tangible point of remembrance: something to place beside a photograph, on a windowsill, or wherever feels right to you.
Practical things worth knowing about glass
Fragility and placement indoors
Bohemian Crystal glass is robust for its type, but it remains a fragile material and deserves careful placement. Keep this cremation urn on a stable, flat surface indoors, away from busy areas or shelf edges where it might be knocked. It is designed for indoor use only. Exposure to moisture, rain or significant temperature changes outdoors can damage both the glass and the finish, so it should not be placed outside.
Using it as a candle holder
The opening at the top is sized for a tealight or small candle. Never leave a lit candle unattended, and ensure the flame does not burn lower than the glass rim. Low-smoke tealights are worth choosing as they reduce the risk of discolouration on the inside of the glass over time.
If you would like to make this piece more personal, a small card or label with a name or date placed alongside it is a simple way to do that. It takes something beautiful and makes it entirely theirs.
If you would like help deciding how to display this urn or thinking through what might sit alongside it, we are happy to talk it through with you at your own pace.
