A place that stays, for someone who stays with you
Choosing a memorial takes more than time. It asks for something that feels right, something that will stand for years and carry genuine meaning. This granite cremation urn monument, fitted with a glass panel bearing a colour or black-and-white photograph, gives the grave a face. Quite literally.
Granite and glass: two materials built to last
Granite forms under immense pressure deep within the earth, and that origin shows in its durability. It resists frost, rain and the passage of time, and asks very little in the way of maintenance. The glass panel onto which the photograph is applied has been specially treated for outdoor use, holding its colour and sharpness for years. Together, granite and glass create a monument that does not fade, much like the memories it holds.
The photograph makes it personal
You choose whether to have a colour photograph or a black-and-white image set into the glass panel. That choice carries more weight than it might seem. A colour photograph returns the face as you knew it: vivid, present, recognisable. Black and white has a different quality, quieter and more timeless. Both options are applied with technical precision to keep detail and contrast sharp. The glasswork demands accuracy at every stage, and that care is visible in the finished piece.
Making it your own
Alongside the photograph, text engraving can be added directly to the granite. The combination of image and words makes this memorial something that belongs to you, and to the person you are remembering.
Practical things worth knowing
Granite is one of the most resilient stones used in memorial construction. It is non-porous, does not absorb moisture, and does not discolour with weathering. The glass panel is the one component that benefits from a little care: clean it with a soft cloth and plain water, and avoid abrasive products. Treated this way, the photograph will remain sharp and clear for many years.
Check your cemetery's requirements before ordering
Before placing an order, it is worth speaking with your cemetery or local authority to confirm what is permitted at your particular site. Some cemeteries specify dimensions, materials or forms that memorials must conform to, and certain sites require installation to be carried out by an approved local stonemason. Any concrete foundation slab and supporting piles beneath the monument will need to be installed by the cemetery itself. If you are planning to place the urn monument in a private garden, a plastic urn vault is also available and can be installed without specialist help. Alternative dimensions can be arranged on request.
Approval before production
Once you have placed your order, we will send you a proof to review before anything is made. This gives you the chance to check every detail, the photograph, any engraved text, and the overall layout, before we proceed.
If you have any questions or would like to talk through your options, please do get in touch by phone or via the contact form. We are happy to take as much time as you need.
