A place that endures
Choosing a cremation urn in the form of a gravestone is not a small decision. You are looking for something that reflects who your loved one was, suits the setting where the memorial will stand, and feels right for your family. The 'Desk' cremation urn is made from granite and available in several colours, so you can find a choice that fits the character of the cemetery or your own garden.
Why granite suits this purpose
Granite is one of the most durable natural stones used in memorial work. It forms through slow solidification deep within the earth's crust, which gives it an exceptionally dense structure. That density makes granite highly resistant to weather, moisture and physical wear. A granite urn for ashes requires very little maintenance and holds its appearance over many years. That is not a marketing claim. It is a property inherent to the material itself.
Engraving options
A name, dates, a line that says something true about who your loved one was: engraving in granite is permanent and precise. An image can also be engraved if there is something from their life worth marking in that way.
Practical steps worth taking first
Before you place a final order, a few practical matters are worth attending to. Not as formality, but because they will save you disappointment later.
Check with the cemetery beforehand
Please note: before ordering, it is advisable to speak with your cemetery manager or local authority about what is and is not permitted at your specific site. Many cemeteries have rules about dimensions, materials and the form that memorials must take. Some also require that installation is carried out only by stonemasons registered to work in that area. Any concrete base slab and foundation posts beneath the stone will need to be installed by the cemetery. If you are placing the memorial in a private garden, a plastic urn vault is available as an alternative, which you can install yourself. Custom dimensions can also be arranged.
Approval before production
Once you have placed your order, we will send you a proof for approval before production begins. This gives you the chance to review every detail carefully before anything is made permanent.
If you have any questions about this funeral urn or would like to talk through the options, please call us or fill in the contact form and we will help you at your own pace.
