A place that reflects who they were

Choosing a memorial for an urn grave is one of the hardest decisions you will make. Not because the options are overwhelming, but because every choice feels like it says something about the person you have lost. Granite gives you something solid to hold onto, in every sense.

Why granite endures

Granite is one of the densest and most durable natural stones used in memorial work. Quarried directly from the earth and shaped by experienced stonemasons, it withstands decades of sun, rain and frost without losing its integrity. The grain structure, colour depth and surface finish are all determined by how the stone is cut, ground or sandblasted, and that work requires genuine skill and knowledge of the material. Because granite is available in a range of colours, from clear grey to deep black or a richer reddish-brown, you can choose a tone that feels right for the person you are remembering. The colour is not incidental. It is a choice that reflects the bond you shared.

What this monument holds

A granite urn monument is not a decorative object. It is a place you can return to, where others can pause, and where a name endures. Text engraving is available, and can carry a name, a date and a personal inscription.

Personalisation: your words, set in stone

Once you have placed your order, you will receive a proof for approval before anything is cut. This lets you check the full layout, the wording and the design at your own pace. If the standard dimensions do not suit your situation, bespoke sizing is possible. This cremation urn monument can be personalised to reflect the person it commemorates, and that process moves at your speed.

Practical matters worth knowing before you order

Granite is a robust material, but a memorial of this kind requires a stable foundation. It is worth thinking through the practicalities before you order your urn for ashes.

Check with your cemetery first

Please note: before placing an order, we strongly recommend speaking with your cemetery manager or local authority about what is and is not permitted at your specific site. Many cemeteries have rules governing the dimensions, materials and forms of memorials. Some require that installation is carried out only by stonemasons approved to work on that site. Any concrete base slab and pile foundation beneath the memorial will typically need to be installed by the cemetery itself. If you are considering placing the monument in a private garden rather than a cemetery, our plastic urn vault offers a straightforward alternative you can install yourself.

If you have any questions about this process, please do get in touch by phone or via the contact form and we will talk through the options with you.
