A place that endures

Some memorials mark a life. A granite cremation urn gravestone holds one. It gives the person you are remembering a fixed, visible place, and gives you somewhere to return to.

What granite brings to a memorial

Granite forms deep underground, under immense pressure and heat. That origin shows in the material itself: it is one of the hardest natural stones used in memorials, dense enough to resist weathering, stable enough to hold its colour and surface texture for decades. Because it is a natural stone, no two pieces are identical. Every monument carries its own pattern of crystals and tones, which means the stone you choose is, in that sense, the only one of its kind. This urn for ashes is available in several colours, so you can select the shade that feels right for the person you are commemorating and for the setting where the monument will stand.

Making the memorial personal

A name, a date, a line that says something true about who they were. Text engraving is available and can be applied directly to the granite surface, giving the monument a meaning that is immediately felt by anyone who visits. We are glad to help you think through what you would like to record.

Practical considerations before you order

Ordering a granite funeral urn monument involves a few important steps beyond simply choosing the stone. Understanding these before you order makes the process straightforward.

Check with your cemetery first

Before placing an order, it is worth contacting your cemetery manager or local authority to confirm what is and is not permitted at your specific site. Some cemeteries specify approved dimensions, materials or shapes for monuments. Some require that installation is carried out by a stonemason local to the area. Any concrete base or pile foundation beneath the monument will typically need to be installed by the cemetery itself. If you are planning to place the monument in a private garden, our plastic urn vault is a practical alternative that you can install yourself. Non-standard dimensions can also be discussed.

Approval before production begins

Once you have placed your order, we send you a proof to review before anything goes into production. This gives you a clear opportunity to check every detail, including any engraved text, before we proceed.

Granite outdoors: durability and maintenance

Granite does not need sealing, treating or waterproofing. It withstands frost, moisture and prolonged outdoor exposure without degrading. Periodic cleaning with water is enough to keep the surface looking well, even after many years. For a permanent outdoor memorial, that low-maintenance quality matters.
