A lotus that holds more than memory alone
The lotus has carried the same meaning across centuries: something of beauty rising from what is heavy. If you are looking for a keepsake urn that speaks to who someone was, not just where their ashes rest, that symbolism is the starting point of this design.
Hand-crafted in bronze, each piece its own
The 'Lotus' mini urn for ashes is a drop urn formed from sheet bronze, bent and welded by hand into the shape of a blooming lotus flower with a closed bud at its centre. This process requires real precision and is carried out by specialist craftspeople in the Netherlands. Because every piece is shaped and finished by hand, no two urns are identical.
Patina: character in the finish
Once formed, the urn is finished with a coloured patina, an oxide layer applied by hand. You choose between green or brown. Because the patina is worked on individually, it settles differently on every piece, which is what makes each one genuinely unique. The green patina gives the urn a natural, slightly rustic character that becomes more even over time. The brown patina carries a light wax layer that halts oxidation and keeps the colour stable.
Made to last, indoors and out
Bronze does not deteriorate. That is a material property, not a marketing claim. Whether you place this cremation urn on a shelf inside or in a garden, the base material needs no maintenance. The patina asks a little more attention, and that is straightforward to manage.
Caring for your urn by colour
The green patina is best cleaned with a soft cloth, water and a small amount of mild soap. Avoid scrubbing hard, as the layer is delicate. The colour will shift gently over the years, gradually becoming more even. The brown patina used indoors needs nothing more than occasional dusting. If the brown patina urn is placed outside, apply a thin coat of beeswax at least once every two years: work it in with a cloth, allow it to absorb, then buff it off. This protects the bronze from further oxidation and keeps the finish looking its best.
Filling the urn with confidence
All the accessories needed to fill the urn are included. The urn seals with a high-grip double-sided closure tape rated for considerable tensile strength, so once closed it is secure. The process is straightforward: the included ash bag can be placed inside the urn first and its open end used as a funnel to guide the ashes in, then sealed with the included cable tie and tucked into the opening. If you prefer not to use the ash bag, a separate funnel is recommended to avoid spillage. Once filled, ensure the inner seating edge is clean and free from dust, grease and moisture using the cloth provided, then press the cap into place in a single firm movement until it sits flush. If you would rather the crematorium or funeral director handle the filling, that is entirely possible. Should the urn ever need to be reopened, that can also be arranged.
A design shaped by the bond you shared
The lotus is a strong image, but every person is different. If you would like a mini urn for ashes that reflects something more specific to the life you shared, a fully bespoke design is possible. Send a sketch, a photograph or a reference to our team and they will develop it into a concrete proposal, followed by a quotation for your approval.
Timescales and the making process
Because each urn is made by hand in the Netherlands, the lead time is four to six weeks. In many cases the urn can be dispatched sooner, but to avoid any disappointment we quote around six weeks as standard. If you need to know the current lead time before ordering, get in touch via the chat or by email and we will let you know where things stand.
