Still and steady
Some urns make a statement. The Memento does something quieter. Finished in satin black ceramic, it simply sits within a room, composed and dignified, asking nothing of the people around it. If you are looking for a cremation urn that feels considered rather than conspicuous, this is worth your attention.
A production process that cannot be hurried
Ceramic demands patience at every stage, and the Memento is no exception. Specially selected raw materials are blended into a workable ceramic body. A craftsman then produces a plaster model from a technical drawing, and that model becomes the mould from which each piece is cast. The cast pieces are set aside to dry fully before their surfaces are smoothed by hand. The first firing takes place at 900°C. Satin glaze is then applied, and the urn enters the kiln a second time at 1,050°C. That second firing is not a finishing touch. It determines the density, the structural strength and the depth of the black you see in the finished piece. Every urn that completes this process carries its own subtle character as a result.
A material built to last
Ceramic has been used by people to hold what matters to them for thousands of years. The Egyptians worked with it, and the material has endured because it is dense, stable and needs very little looking after. The bond you shared with the person you have lost deserves something with that same quality of permanence. The Memento will not fade, will not deteriorate and requires no particular care to remain exactly as it is, year after year.
Suitable with or without an ash bag
The Memento urn for ashes can be used with or without an ash bag, giving you the freedom to make that choice based on your own preference at the time, without any compromise to the fit or the finish of the urn.
Practical guidance for indoor use
Ceramic is a strong and proven material, but it is worth placing the Memento thoughtfully. As this is an urn designed for indoor use, moisture and temperature variation are not concerns. What does matter is placement. Choose a stable, level surface away from busy walkways. Ceramic does not weaken with age, but a fall from height can cause damage. A quiet, settled spot in the home is the right choice, practically and in every other sense.
Creating a personal space around the urn
The Memento does not come with a fixed prescription for how to display it. Its satin black finish is neutral enough to recede gracefully into almost any interior, which means the objects you place around it can carry the meaning. A photograph. Something that belonged to the person. A candle lit when you want a moment of stillness. Personalisation is available via an engraving plate, which can carry a name, a date or a short phrase, if you would like the urn itself to hold that detail.
