Hand-throwing as a craft

Throwing a ceramic urn by hand takes real technical skill and patience. The clay is centred on the wheel, drawn upward and shaped into the finished form using nothing but hands and steady concentration. The surface is then smoothed before a first firing at 900°C. Glaze is applied, and the urn is fired a second time at 1,050°C. That higher second firing bonds the glaze fully into the surface, creating a texture and depth you cannot replicate with a mould or machine.

Because every Golden Lila is formed by hand, no two are identical. The brown tone, the slight variations in the wall, the way light settles on the surface: these are the traces of how it was made. That is precisely what makes this urn a personal tribute to the bond you shared.
