A flame that stays lit
Some objects become part of a daily rhythm almost quietly. This ceramic keepsake urn holds a symbolic amount of ashes and doubles as a working candle holder, so it finds a natural place on a windowsill, a sideboard or a corner that belonged to them. Each time you light a candle, there is a moment of connection with the bond you shared.
How this urn is made
Ceramic demands patience and precision, and you see both in every finished piece. Carefully selected ingredients are mixed to a workable body, and a craftsman builds a plaster model from a technical drawing. That model becomes the basis for the casting mould. Once cast, each piece is left to dry, the surface is smoothed by hand, and the urn is fired at 900°C. A glaze is then applied and the piece goes back into the kiln at 1,050°C. Those two firings are what give the ceramic its durability and its even, matte grey tone. The colour is not incidental. Grey here reads as quiet steadiness, something that is simply present, day after day.
Symbolic rather than complete
This is a keepsake urn, designed to hold a symbolic portion of ashes rather than a full cremation. It is a tangible place of remembrance, and the candle holder is central to that purpose. The light you choose to kindle there gives the moment its meaning, each time you return to it.
Practical things worth knowing
An object used every day deserves straightforward information about care and handling.
Using and caring for a ceramic urn indoors
Ceramic is a stable material for indoor use. The glaze layer protects the surface and makes it easy to keep clean with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Because each urn for ashes is individually cast, smoothed and finished by hand, no two pieces are identical. Small variations in surface texture or tone are a natural result of that process, not imperfections. Keep the urn away from edges or surfaces where it could be knocked, as ceramic will chip or crack if dropped.
Personalisation
If you would like to make this urn more personal, consider placing a small card alongside it carrying a name, a date or a line that meant something to you both. It is a simple way to turn the candle holder into a place of story as well as remembrance. An engraving plate can also be added if you prefer something more permanent, able to carry a name, a date or a short phrase.
