Some people want a place in the home that holds a memory visibly, every day. This cremation urn does something an ordinary urn cannot: it gives you a daily ritual. You light a candle, and for a moment, everything is still.

How this urn is made

The process begins with specially selected raw materials blended into a ceramic body. This mass is cast into a mould formed from a hand-built plaster model, dried, and then carefully smoothed by hand. The piece goes into the kiln for a first firing at 900°C. Layers of enamel are then applied in several colour tones before a second firing at 1,050°C, which is what fixes the colour, locks in the gloss, and gives the glaze its lasting hardness. The chocolate brown surface with its mother-of-pearl accent is the direct result of that second firing. Because this is a hand-finished ceramic process, small variations in tone and finish are natural and make each urn its own.

What candlelight adds

Lighting a candle for someone you have lost is not a new idea. It is one of the oldest acts of remembrance there is: the striking of a flame, waiting for it to settle, the quiet that follows. The Flame of Memory is designed so that moment becomes something you can see as well as feel. Candlelight plays across the glazed surface and catches the mother-of-pearl accent in a way that shifts with the flame. It makes the bond you shared present in the room, through a gesture that is entirely your own.

Suitable with or without an ash bag

This urn for ashes can be used with or without an ash bag. That flexibility means you can choose how you prefer to place the cremation ashes, without any change to the appearance of the urn or where you position it.

Ceramic is a stable material and this urn is made to last. A little thought about placement and day-to-day handling will keep it looking exactly as it should.

Protecting the glaze and colour

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the glaze to shift in colour over time. Place the urn indoors, away from direct sun and away from damp. The surface cleans easily with a soft, dry cloth. Abrasive cloths or cleaning products can damage the glaze layer and are best avoided.

Safe use with a candle

Use only candles that fit the opening of the holder properly, and never leave a lit candle unattended. Place the urn on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keeping to these simple steps means the daily ritual stays safe and undisturbed.

Making the space around it your own

The Flame of Memory does not need an engraving to feel personal. The act of lighting the candle is already yours. That said, if you would like to personalise the urn further, an engraving plate can be added, with space for a name, a date, or a short phrase that meant something to you both.

The space around the urn matters too. A photograph, a small object, or a flower that says something about the person you are missing can give the urn its fuller meaning. None of that needs to be decided at once.
