A last home, held in flight
Birds vanish from sight, but their flight stays with us. This cremation urn holds that idea at its centre: movement made still, freedom kept close. If you are looking for something that speaks to who your loved one was, without needing to spell it out, the 'Vogelvlucht' is worth considering.
Sand-cast by hand: a craft with centuries behind it
This urn is made by hand using sand casting, a metalworking technique with roots stretching back hundreds of years. Molten brass is poured into a sand mould, and the piece then passes through seven separate finishing stages before it reaches inspection. Each stage demands precision: from casting and de-sanding through to the blue lacquer coating and final quality check. That is not a marketing claim. It is a measurable process, and you can see the result in the finished piece.
What to know about brass
Brass does not rust. That is one of the qualities that has made it a trusted material for lasting objects across generations. The metal has a natural golden tone, finished here with a blue coating that both protects the surface and gives the urn its character. This is an indoor urn. Placing it outside is not advised, as moisture and changes in temperature can damage the lacquer over time. Kept indoors in a settled position, the urn will hold its appearance well.
Closure and security
The lid is threaded and can be secured with two-part adhesive once in place. This gives you confidence that the urn is properly sealed, without it becoming a complicated task. The urn is suitable for use with or without an ash bag.
What the flight means for your remembrance
The bird motif is not a generic symbol of freedom. In the context of loss, flight points to something that can no longer be held, but also to something that is not forgotten. The bond you shared does not disappear; it simply takes a different form. If your loved one was drawn to nature, to open space, or to a sense of being unbound, then the 'Vogelvlucht' is not an arbitrary choice. It is a recognisable one.
Personalisation options
If you would like to make this urn for ashes more personal, an engraving plate can be added, carrying a name, a date or a short phrase that meant something to the person you are remembering. Sometimes meaning also comes from what is placed beside the urn rather than on it: a photograph, a small object, something that belonged to them. We are happy to talk through what might work for your situation.
