A life's path, held in bronze

Some people leave a mark that stays with you. The 'Path of life' cremation urn was designed around that thought: the arc represents the journey a person travelled, and the sphere represents the person themselves. Not as an abstract idea, but as a solid, tangible form you can place somewhere meaningful and return to every day.

Handcrafted in the Netherlands from solid bronze

Each urn is made by hand in the Netherlands by specialist craftspeople working with solid bronze sheet. The metal is cut, bent and welded into the characteristic arc that gives this urn its shape. That process demands precision at every stage, and the quality of the finished piece reflects it. Bronze does not deteriorate and requires no ongoing maintenance. What makes each urn genuinely individual is the patina: a coloured oxide layer applied by hand during production. No two urns carry exactly the same finish.

Green or brown patina

The urn is available in two finishes:

  • The green patina gives the urn a natural, settled appearance. To clean, wipe gently with a soft cloth, water and mild soap. Avoid scrubbing, as the patina layer is delicate. Over time, the green tone becomes more even.
  • The brown patina is sealed with a light wax coating that halts further oxidation. Indoors, dusting is all that is needed. If placed outside, apply beeswax at least once every two years, allow it to absorb fully, then buff to a finish.

Designed to last

Bronze is naturally weather-resistant and built to endure. This urn for ashes is suitable for both indoor and outdoor placement, so you can choose the setting that best reflects the person and the bond you shared. That choice belongs to you.

Filling, sealing and practical use

All accessories needed for filling and sealing are supplied with the urn. The closure uses a double-sided sealing tape with a high-tensile bond, designed to hold securely over time. The ashes can be placed inside with or without an ash bag. If an ash bag is used, the open end acts as a funnel; once filled, it is sealed with the included cable tie and tucked into the opening. Without a bag, a funnel is recommended to avoid spillage. Before sealing, the inner rim should be clean and free of dust, grease and moisture. A cleaning cloth is included for this purpose. The cap is then pressed into position in a single movement until it sits flush. If you would prefer the crematorium or funeral director to handle the filling, that is a straightforward arrangement. Should the urn ever need to be reopened, our technicians can assist.

Delivery and lead time

Because every urn is made by hand in the Netherlands, the lead time is four to six weeks. In most cases dispatch happens sooner, but a six-week estimate is given to avoid disappointment. If you need to know the current lead time before ordering, contact us via chat or by email and we will give you an accurate figure.

As individual as the person it honours

The 'Path of life' is also available as a companion urn, for two people whose lives were bound together. If you are looking for something still more personal, a fully bespoke design is possible. You can send a sketch, a photograph or a reference piece, and we will work with you to develop a design made to your specification, with a quote for approval before any work begins.

Bespoke design options

If you have a specific design in mind, we can work from whatever reference you provide: a sketch, a photograph or an example of a shape or style you have seen. From that, a design is drawn up and a quote prepared for your approval before production begins. The result is a funeral urn that exists nowhere else.

Caring for your bronze urn

Bronze is durable, but the patina layer that gives each urn its character does need a little consideration. The green patina should be cleaned gently and never scrubbed. The brown patina, if kept outdoors, benefits from a beeswax treatment every couple of years to keep the finish stable. Both finishes are well suited to outdoor placement, but modest care will keep them looking their best over many years.

If you would like to talk through the finish options, discuss a bespoke design, or simply have questions before deciding, we are happy to help at whatever pace suits you.
