A place to return to, for as long as you need

Scattering feels too final for many people. Too abrupt. As though the whole of grief must be resolved in a single act, when grief rarely works that way. This bronze water urn offers something different: a permanent place in your own garden where the memory of someone you loved stays close, and the letting go happens at your own pace.

How this cremation urn works

The water urn is a bronze sphere mounted on a tube of around one and a half metres in length. The sphere contains several internal compartments. The lowest holds the ashes of up to two people. Rainwater enters through two narrow circular grooves, comes into contact with the ashes, and then, through a patented dosing system, carries them gradually and invisibly into the earth below. The process takes roughly ten years, depending on annual rainfall. A second interment remains possible at any point, even years after the first.

Bronze: built for outdoors

Bronze is an alloy with centuries of use in outdoor objects, chosen precisely because it holds up to weather, cold and moisture. This urn for ashes is designed for permanent outdoor placement and needs no special protection or maintenance. Over time, bronze develops a natural patina. That gradual colour change is part of the material, not a sign of deterioration, and it gives each piece a quiet character of its own. Rain and frost will not damage it.

Meaning that grows over the years

Choosing a place in your garden is a choice to keep memory present in everyday life. Not behind glass in a columbarium, where a placement period eventually ends and a new decision has to be made. But in that particular spot where the morning sun falls, beside a pond, beneath a tree your loved one was fond of. The bond you shared finds a place that fits your life, not an institution's timetable.

Inscription options

If you would like to personalise this urn, text engraving is available: a name, a date, or a short phrase that says something about who this person was to you. Not a requirement, but a way to make the urn distinctly yours. If you are unsure what wording might feel right, we are happy to think it through with you.

Placement and practical details

The tube is set into the ground so that the sphere sits at a stable height above it. This makes the water urn suitable for a private garden, a cemetery, or a dedicated urn field. The dosing system runs entirely on rainwater and requires no intervention once placed. Over time, what begins as a cremation urn becomes, naturally and without any deliberate change on your part, a garden sculpture. Not as a loss, but as a quiet continuation, on your own terms.

If you would like to talk through placement, inscription, or anything else before deciding, get in touch and we will go through the options at whatever pace suits you.
