When water feels like the right farewell

Not every life belongs on a mantelpiece. Some people were drawn to open water, to the horizon, to space. If you are looking for a way to scatter ashes that reflects who that person truly was, this biodegradable cremation urn offers a considered and dignified choice.

Handcrafted from a natural mineral

This urn is made from Tonolith-Anhydrite, a mineral formed by the natural compaction of gypsum deposits. Anhydrite is the unhydrated form of gypsum, with the chemical formula CaSO4, and it returns fully to the natural environment once submerged. The outer surface is hand-airbrushed using water-based, environmentally friendly paint, which gives the green ground and the golden stripe their quiet, handmade character. Because the process is done by hand, no two urns are identical.

How a water burial takes place

The urn is supplied with a cord, allowing you to lower it into the water carefully and at your own pace. It floats briefly at the surface before beginning its slow descent. Within a few days, the material breaks down naturally in the water. That gradual dissolving is not a loss. It is the completion of a choice you made deliberately, for someone you knew well.

Keeping the urn until the moment is right

You do not need to commit to a date immediately. This urn for ashes holds its shape and appearance well when stored somewhere dry indoors, which gives you the time to choose a moment that feels right for everyone who wants to be there.

Moisture, storage and what to be aware of

Anhydrite reacts to prolonged exposure to moisture, so it is important to keep the urn dry until the moment of burial. Avoid damp spaces such as a cellar or garage. If you are storing it at home in the meantime, choose a cool, dry room indoors. The material is designed for water burial or temporary indoor storage only. It is not suited to permanent outdoor placement in a garden or on a terrace, and should not be treated as a garden urn.

The meaning behind the colours

Green carries associations with nature, with growth, and with what continues beyond what we can see. The golden stripe adds quiet dignity to the form. If the person you have lost loved the sea, the outdoors, or simply the feeling of open space, that symbolism connects directly to the bond you shared. This is not an arbitrary choice of colour. It is a small way of saying something true about who they were.

If you have questions about the burial process or would like to talk through the options, we are happy to help you at your own pace.
