A quiet, lasting presence
Some memorials ask to be noticed. This one simply stays. The stainless steel keepsake urn 'Block' is compact, plain-spoken and built to last wherever you choose to place it.
Grade 316 stainless steel: what that means in practice
This keepsake urn is made from RVS 316 stainless steel, a grade above the standard 304 used in most steel products. The difference lies in corrosion resistance: 316 holds up against moisture, salt air and the elements over many years, making it equally suited to a windowsill indoors or a sheltered spot in the garden. The brushed finish is ground directly into the steel, so the surface catches light at different angles and carries a quiet, living sheen. There is no lacquer, no coating and nothing to fade or peel with time.
Made by hand in the Netherlands
Each urn is made by hand in the Netherlands by specialist craftspeople using the best available materials. That process takes time, and the lead time is four to six weeks. In practice, most orders are ready sooner, but the six-week estimate is given to be honest rather than optimistic. If you would like to know the current lead time before ordering, you are welcome to ask via the chat or by e-mail.
Built to hold, year after year
When you are choosing a memorial to keep, the last thing you want is doubt about whether it will hold. The 'Block' is made with that concern in mind, from the material choice to the seal.
The seal and how it works
The urn is sealed using a high-bond double-sided tape rated for significant tensile force, creating a fully airtight closure. Because 316 stainless steel is exceptionally rigid, the ashes can be placed directly inside without an ash bag if you prefer. All filling accessories are included: an ash bag, a cable tie to secure it, and a cloth to clean the inner rim before sealing. If there is any possibility you may wish to move the ashes in future, using the ash bag is the more practical choice. The filling process is straightforward, and full step-by-step instructions are provided with your order. You can also ask a crematorium or funeral director to fill the urn on your behalf, and if the urn ever needs to be reopened, the team can assist with that too.
Ten-year guarantee and 30-day returns
This keepsake urn carries a ten-year guarantee. If you receive it and feel it is not right for any reason, you have 30 days to return it, no difficult questions asked.
Personalising the 'Block'
The form of this urn is deliberate in its simplicity. A clean, geometric surface leaves room for what you choose to add to it.
Laser engraving: how the option works
Laser engraving is available directly on the steel surface. A computer-guided laser cuts into the metal with precision, producing an image or text that becomes part of the surface itself rather than sitting on top of it. Images can be rendered in greyscale or colour, and the quality of the result depends on the resolution of the file you supply. A high-resolution image will engrave cleanly and sharply; a low-resolution one will show that. When you place your order, you will be guided through the engraving options and given the opportunity to upload your image or text. A signature, a date, or a photograph that reflects the bond you shared, these are the kinds of details that turn a well-made object into something genuinely personal.
Practical questions about the 'Block'
Can the ashes be placed directly in the urn, or is an ash bag required?
Both are possible. Unlike ceramic or glass urns, where an ash bag adds a layer of protection against accidental damage, 316 stainless steel is robust enough that you can place the ashes directly inside. The seal is fully airtight. That said, if you think you may want to move the ashes at some point, placing them in the included ash bag first keeps that option open.
Is this urn suitable for outdoors?
Yes. The 316 grade steel is chosen specifically for its resistance to corrosion and the elements, so this urn for ashes is equally at home outside as it is indoors. It will not rust, pit or discolour in normal outdoor conditions.
