That grade matters: it is a higher-specification alloy than the standard 304, meaning it resists corrosion more effectively and holds up reliably whether placed indoors or outside. Stainless steel is an alloy of iron, chromium, nickel and carbon, and at this grade it needs no special maintenance and no protective coating. The brushed finish is not simply decorative. The direction of the grain causes light to reflect differently depending on the angle, giving the surface a shifting, considered lustre that changes subtly through the day.

This is a mini urn for ashes, designed to hold a portion of ashes rather than the full volume. It can be used with or without an ash bag, and because the steel is grade 316 and the seal is airtight, it is robust enough to hold ashes loose inside if you prefer. That said, if there is any chance you may wish to move the ashes at a later stage, keeping them in the included ash bag gives you that flexibility.

Filling and sealing the urn

Everything needed to fill and seal the urn is included. The closure uses double-sided tape rated for high tensile load, which creates an airtight fit once the lid is pressed flush. If you use the ash bag, it doubles as a guide funnel during filling and is then secured with the included cable tie before being tucked into the opening. If you choose not to use the bag, a small funnel will help avoid spillage. A cleaning cloth is included to make sure the inner rim is free of dust and moisture before the lid is closed. You are also welcome to leave the filling entirely to the crematorium or funeral director, and if the urn ever needs to be reopened after sealing, the maker's technicians can take care of that for you.

Laser engraving

Personalisation is available via laser engraving, applied directly to the steel surface. A computer-guided laser works with precision, and images can be rendered in grey tones or in colour. The sharpness of the result depends on the resolution of the file you supply: the better the image, the finer the detail. You can select this option and upload your image during the ordering process.

Durability, guarantee and returns

Grade 316 stainless steel is suited to indoor and outdoor use. Under normal conditions it will not rust and requires no upkeep. This cremation urn carries a 10-year guarantee. There is also a 30-day return period on all memorial products, so you can order with confidence.

Lead time

Each urn is handmade to order in the Netherlands, and the lead time is four to six weeks. In practice it is often sooner, but that window is quoted to avoid disappointment.
