A butterfly that holds what never truly leaves

Some memorials are meant to be seen. This one is meant to be felt. The Sculpture urn for ashes 'Butterfly' stands quietly in a room, carrying real meaning in a form that needs no label or explanation from you. If you are looking for something that can be present every day without feeling like a statement, this is worth considering.

Craftsmanship in coated steel and hand-finished wood

The butterfly figure is formed from 2 mm steel and finished using a powder-coating process. In this process, negatively charged powder is applied electrostatically to the steel, then cured in an oven until it bonds to the surface. The result is a finish that is considerably more durable and even than conventional paint or lacquer. The wooden base is hand-finished and hand-coloured. The ashes reservoir sits within the base, housing a supplied plastic ash tube that is sealed with an aluminium adhesive disc. Every element has been considered for longevity as much as for appearance.

What the butterfly means

The butterfly has carried the same symbolism across centuries and cultures: the immortal soul made visible. Its fragility and brief life speak to the passage of time, but its metamorphosis tells a different story. Life, death and renewal are not three separate things but three stages of one continuous arc. As the butterfly leaves its chrysalis, so the soul is understood to leave the body at death. For those with religious faith, this is the crossing from suffering into something better. For those without, it still speaks to transformation and to the idea that what mattered about a person does not simply end. If you have lost someone you loved, this symbolism gives grief somewhere to land, and memory somewhere to rest.

Sharing the memory across a family

Because this is a keepsake urn, it holds a portion of the ashes rather than the full volume. That makes it possible to order more than one, sharing them among family members so that each person has something tangible to keep. The bond you shared with the person you have lost does not have to belong to one household alone.

Practical care: wood and indoor placement

The wooden base is a natural material, and like all natural wood it may carry small knots or slight surface variation. These are characteristics of the material, not faults. Wood is also sensitive to significant changes in temperature and humidity. To keep the sculpture stable and the finish intact, place it in a consistent indoor spot away from radiators, draughts and direct sunlight. With the right placement, both the steel and the wood will remain in good condition for many years.

Personalisation

If you would like to personalise this mini urn for ashes, engraving on the base is available as an option. A name, a date or a short phrase can be added. If you are unsure what would suit, we are happy to think it through with you at whatever pace feels right.
