What words can't hold, this can
Not everyone wants an urn on the mantelpiece. If you are looking for something that keeps a person close without changing the feel of your home, this sculpture offers a quieter way. To everyone else, it is simply a beautiful object in the room. To you, it holds something irreplaceable.
Developed with artists, shaped with precision
This sculpture came directly from a request made by bereaved families who found traditional urns too prominent in their homes. Working with a group of established artists, a series of ash sculptures was developed, each one expressing connection through form rather than statement. This piece is cast in zilvertin, an alloy prized for its fine castability and understated satin finish. Zilvertin is an exacting material: it is sensitive to temperature variation during casting, and any carelessness in the process shows in the finished surface. That disciplines the craft, and you see the result in the quality of the piece you receive.
What this sculpture holds
The base of the sculpture is hollow. Inside, a small, symbolic portion of ashes rests in a sealed chamber, closed with a screw cap that is supplied with the piece. There is nothing about the object that announces what it contains. It sits in your home as a sculpture, present and considered, while carrying its meaning for you alone.
The symbolism of 'Connected through the heart'
The title is not ornamental. Being connected through the heart points to something that does not end at death: the habits you recognise as borrowed from that person, the things they changed in you, the moments when they come to mind without any particular reason. This cremation urn in sculptural form makes that ongoing presence tangible on a shelf or sideboard you pass every day. If you would like to give this piece a more personal dimension, get in touch to talk through what that might look like.
Practical care and placement at home
This urn for ashes is designed for indoor use only, and that matters if you want it to last. Zilvertin is not weather-resistant. Moisture, direct sunlight and the temperature fluctuations that come with outdoor placement will degrade the material over time. Kept indoors on a dry surface away from direct sun, the sculpture will hold its finish and its quality for years. Clean it with a dry or very lightly dampened cloth, and avoid any abrasive products. The screw closure on the base provides a secure, sealed fit around the ashes.
A note on personalisation
If you would like to personalise this piece, get in touch and we can discuss what is possible. Some people choose to add an engraving or a small accompanying item that gives the sculpture an additional layer of meaning specific to the person they are remembering.
If you are unsure whether this sculpture is the right choice, or if you have a particular wish in mind, we are happy to think it through with you at whatever pace suits you.
