Zilvertin is an exacting material: it is sensitive to temperature variation during casting, and any carelessness in the process shows in the finished surface. The base of the sculpture is hollow. Inside, a small, symbolic portion of ashes rests in a sealed chamber, closed with a screw cap that is supplied with the piece.
