This piece came about after repeated requests from bereaved families who found a traditional urn on the mantelpiece too prominent, too hard to explain to every visitor. In response, we worked with a group of established artists to develop a series of ash sculptures, each designed to hold a symbolic portion of ashes within a hollow base, sealed with a screw cap that is included with the sculpture. The result is a figure that stands as a work of art in its own right, while holding something deeply personal at its core.

The sculpture is cast from a tin alloy and finished through a bronzing process applied layer by layer to replicate the depth and richness of real bronze.
