MDF: a material chosen for good reason

This cremation urn is made from MDF, Medium-Density Fibreboard. The name sounds industrial, but the material is well suited to this purpose. In production, very finely ground wood fibres are combined with synthetic resin and pressed under high pressure into a dense, closed-grain board. The result is more stable and less prone to shrinkage than solid wood. The matt black finish works with that stability: no surface glare, no visual competition with the photograph it frames. The photo aperture measures 13 x 10.5 cm, large enough to show a clear and recognisable portrait.

Designed for use with an ash bag

This urn for ashes is designed exclusively for use with an ash bag and is intended for indoor placement only. Using an ash bag keeps the ashes secure and protects the interior of the urn over time, so the piece remains as it should be, year after year, wherever you choose to place it.
