A face in stone, held there for good

A photograph catches something that words rarely manage. If you are looking for a way to keep someone genuinely visible, not just remembered in the abstract, a granite photoblock with laser engraving is one of the most direct and lasting ways to do that.

How laser engraving on natural stone works

The dark, polished surface of the marlin stone is exceptionally well suited to laser engraving. The process burns the image directly into the stone itself, not printed onto it, not applied as a coating. Fine details hold: a particular smile, the way someone looked at the camera, a characteristic expression. Because the image is part of the stone, it stands up to all weather conditions year after year.

Photo and text on a single block

You can have both a photograph and a text engraved together. A name, a date, a line that captures something true about the bond you shared: laser engraving reproduces these with a precision that hand-cut lettering cannot match. The result is personal in a way that a standard memorial stone is not.

Practical to place, built to last

The photoblock can be placed in a number of settings: on a monument, at home, in the garden, or as a roadside memorial. That flexibility makes it a practical choice, especially if you are not yet certain where it will eventually sit.

Image quality: what you need to know

The quality of the engraving depends on the photograph you supply. Your image needs a minimum resolution of 300 DPI. A blurred or low-resolution photograph will produce a blurred engraving, regardless of how precise the laser technology is. If you are unsure whether your image is suitable, get in touch before you order and we can advise you.

A proof before anything is produced

Once you have placed your order, we will send you a digital proof for approval before production begins. You can review the layout, check the text and confirm everything looks right. Nothing goes to the laser until you are satisfied.

Something that does not fade

Printed photographs yellow. Digital files get lost or become inaccessible. A laser engraving in natural stone does neither. Stone and light work together in a way that is genuinely durable, and the combination of material and technique was chosen for exactly that reason. What you order today will look the same in ten years, precisely as you had it made.

When you are ready, you can upload your photograph and place your order directly. If you would like to talk through the image options or check whether your photo is suitable before ordering, we are happy to help at whatever pace suits you.
