The sculpture and how it is made

The figure is made from 2 mm coated steel, finished using a powder-coating process. In this electrostatic method, negatively charged powder is applied to the steel and then cured in an oven, forming a hard, even layer across the surface. The result is a deep matte black finish that holds up well to daily life. The wooden base is hand-finished and individually coloured, which means each piece carries its own slight variation.

What the heart means

The heart the cat holds is not decorative detail for its own sake. It points to something specific: the way your cat was present on her own terms, but always at the right moment. This is a characteristic of wood, not a fault in the piece. The powder-coated steel of the figure itself requires no special care and will keep its shape and colour with ordinary indoor use.
