A stone that stays, a memory that lives

Choosing a memorial stone is one of the most considered decisions you will make. This monument in black granite gives your loved one's memory a fixed, visible place, somewhere to return to.

Laser engraving on black granite: the technique and what it produces

Black granite has a naturally smooth, polished surface that responds exceptionally well to laser engraving. The image is burned directly into the stone, so even the finest detail stays sharp and legible over time. This is not a printed or applied image. It is a permanent mark, resistant to rain, frost and prolonged sun exposure. Granite is among the most weather-resistant natural stones available for memorial use, and laser engraving works with that durability rather than against it. You can choose from a range of existing designs, or supply your own photograph. For the clearest result, please use an image with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI.

What you can personalise

The stone carries what you want it to carry: a portrait, an image that reflects who they were, words chosen by you. That combination of image and text makes the monument specific to one person, not a generic marker.

Proof approval before production

Once you have placed your order, we will send you a visual proof for approval before production begins. This gives you the opportunity to review the layout, wording and image placement carefully before anything is cut into the stone.

Practical steps before you order

Placing a memorial stone takes a little preparation. Not as a formality, but as a straightforward way to avoid disappointment later.

Check with the cemetery first

Please note: before ordering, it is worth speaking with your cemetery manager or local authority to confirm what is and is not permitted at your specific site. Many cemeteries have rules covering dimensions, materials and form. Some require installation to be carried out only by approved local stonemasons. Any concrete base slab or pile foundation beneath the memorial stone must be installed by the cemetery itself. Confirming these details in advance means the process runs smoothly from order through to placement.

A choice that holds

Black granite does not fade, crack or require ongoing maintenance. The bond you shared remains visible, on a stone that will look the same in twenty years as it does today. If you have questions about personalisation options, design choices or the ordering process, please call us or complete the contact form and we will talk it through with you.
