A stone that stands long after words fall short
Choosing a memorial stone is not a simple task. You want something that does justice to who your loved one was, something that will endure, and something that suits the place where they rest. Granite offers exactly that certainty. It is one of the hardest natural stones in existence, and every piece carries its own unique pattern of minerals and colour variation. No two stones are the same.
Granite as the foundation of a lasting memorial
Granite has been used for memorial monuments for centuries, and for good reason. It is exceptionally hard, resistant to moisture, and holds its structure through years of rain, frost and shifting temperatures. Engraving cut into granite does not fade or wear away. It remains legible across generations. When you choose a granite memorial stone, you are choosing a monument built to last as long as the memory itself.
Made to keep visible the bond you shared
The choice of design on these memorial stones gives you room to say something personal. Whether you choose a calm, understated motif or an image that speaks directly to who your loved one was, every detail you add makes the stone less anonymous and more theirs. A name, a date, a short phrase, a symbol connected to their life: each of these gives the stone a face.
Personalisation that reflects who they were
When thinking about which design to choose, consider what defined your loved one. Was there a hobby, a favourite animal, a landscape that belonged to their life? That connection can be made concrete in engraving. Text engraving is available, and a motif can be selected from several designs to suit the person and the place. The stone becomes not just a marker, but a point of recognition for everyone who passes.
Available in several colours, so you can choose what fits both the setting and the person you are remembering. Engraving remains sharp and legible over the very long term, which is one of the qualities that makes granite the material of choice for permanent memorials.
Practical matters, handled clearly
Placing a memorial stone requires coordination with the cemetery. Rules vary from one location to the next, and it is worth making those enquiries before you order.
Check cemetery requirements before ordering
Before placing your order, we recommend speaking with your cemetery manager or local authority about what is and is not permitted at your cemetery. Requirements can cover dimensions, materials and design. Some cemeteries also require that monuments are installed by stonemasons from a particular region. Any concrete base beneath the stone, and any foundation piling beneath that base, will need to be installed by the cemetery directly.
Approval before production
Once you have placed your order, we will send you a proof for approval. This gives you the opportunity to review the text and design on the monument before anything is finalised.
If you have questions or would like to talk through the design and personalisation options, please get in touch by phone or via the contact form and we will help you find the right choice at your own pace.
