Quieter than words, stronger than time

Some losses sit beyond what language can hold. A seated angel in bronze offers something different: a presence that stays, composed and unhurried, wherever you choose to place it.

Cast using the lost-wax method

This memorial statue is made using the traditional lost-wax casting method, known in French as cire perdue. Each piece begins as a hand-modelled wax figure, which is then cast in bronze and finished and patinated entirely by hand. The process is labour-intensive and has been used for centuries to create sculptures built to endure. You can see it in the sharpness of the face, the folds of the wings, and the stillness the figure holds. Bronze casting at this level demands patience and precision, and the result carries both.

Freestanding, with a dowel on the base

The statue stands independently and has a dowel fitted to the underside. This allows you to fix it securely to a plinth or memorial slab, keeping it stable in wind or on a busy cemetery path.

The meaning held in a sitting figure

A seated angel is not standing guard or caught mid-movement. She sits. That distinction matters. Sitting means staying. It is the posture of someone present without hurry, someone who is not about to leave. If you are placing this statue for someone who spent their life looking after others, or who rarely had the chance to rest, that seated posture will carry a meaning you recognise immediately. It does not need pointing out.

Connecting the symbolism to the person

If you would like to anchor the symbolism further, a plinth or memorial plate placed alongside can carry a name, a date, or a short phrase. The statue speaks on its own, but a name gives it a face. It makes the bond you shared visible to everyone who passes.

A durable material, honestly maintained

Bronze is one of the most resilient materials available for outdoor use. It does not rust, it does not decay, and it does not need a protective coating to survive the elements. What bronze does do is patinate: its colour deepens gradually over the years, moving from bright bronze-gold towards a richer, darker tone. This is not deterioration. It is the material responding to its surroundings, to rain, light and the changing seasons.

Care and longevity

If you would like to keep the original bronze tone, applying a bronze wax or a clear carnauba wax once a year will slow the patination and protect the surface. If you prefer to leave it untreated, the statue will develop its own character over time. Both are entirely reasonable choices, and neither is wrong.
