Holding what words cannot reach

There are moments when you need something you can see and touch. Something that marks the presence of the person you are missing, without requiring you to explain why. This bronze statue of Mary and Child does exactly that: a visible sign of protection, unconditional love, and a bond that does not end with loss.

Cast by the lost-wax method

This statue is made using the traditional lost-wax casting method, known in French as cire perdue. Each piece begins as a hand-formed wax model, which is then cast in bronze and individually finished, patinated, and refined by hand. No two pieces are exactly alike. You are not choosing a mass-produced object. You are choosing something with the character of genuine craft.

What the image of Mary and Child means

Mary holding the Child is one of the oldest images of protective love in the world. The way she draws the child close says what many feel but cannot put into words: that the bond you shared does not stop at the moment of loss. If the person you are remembering cared for others, or if you are grieving a child, this statue speaks with particular directness. Placed at a memorial space in the home, in the garden, or at the graveside, it is a daily reminder that the connection remains.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor use

Bronze is one of the most enduring materials available for memorial statues. It withstands rain, frost, and direct sunlight without deteriorating. Outdoors, a natural patina forms gradually over time, a greenish-brown layer that gives the statue depth and character. Indoors, the original bronze tone remains visible for longer. A dowel on the base of the statue allows for stable, secure placement on a surface or monument, indoors or out.

Practical care and long-term durability

Bronze requires very little maintenance. An occasional wipe with a damp cloth is all that is needed to keep the surface in good condition. Unlike ceramic or glass, bronze is not fragile. The dowel on the base prevents the statue from being knocked over by wind or accidental contact. This is a statue made for the long term, intended to stand in the same place year after year. No special storage is needed between seasons, and no concern about breakage.

A place that stays

Bronze has been chosen for monuments and memorial objects for centuries, precisely because it lasts as long as memory does. This is not a seasonal piece. It is a fixed, visible place for the memory of someone who mattered.

Material and finish

Cast in bronze using the lost-wax method, hand-finished and patinated. Freestanding, with a dowel on the base for stable placement. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The patina will deepen naturally outdoors over time, which is part of what makes each piece singular.

Take your time with it. If it feels right, that is enough. If you would like help with placement or have any questions before ordering, we are happy to talk it through with you at whatever pace suits.
