Handmade biodegradable water urn made from mulberry paper with tree bark

A natural farewell at sea or on the water

This handmade biodegradable water urn is designed for a farewell at sea or on another suitable body of water. After being placed in the water, the urn remains visible briefly before absorbing water, sinking and gradually breaking down through natural processes.

Handmade mulberry paper with natural tree bark

The paper is made from fibres obtained from the bark of the mulberry tree. The tree does not need to be felled: the bark regenerates after harvesting. The fibres are made into paper pulp, formed by hand and dried in the sun.

Natural tree bark is incorporated into the material, giving the surface a distinctive organic structure. Variations in colour, texture and finish are part of the handmade character of each urn.

• 100% biodegradable - designed to break down naturally after water burial.
• Renewable raw material - made from mulberry bark that regenerates after harvesting.
• Tree bark - incorporated into the paper itself.
• Handmade - subtle variations make every urn unique.
• Sun-dried - part of the traditional production process.
• SMETA 4-Pillar audited production - the production site is assessed in areas including labour standards, environment and business ethics.

How does a water urn work?

Once placed in the water, the urn remains visible for a short period. The mulberry paper then absorbs water and the urn gradually sinks. The natural paper fibres continue to break down over the following days.

Tree bark as part of the farewell

Tree bark gives this urn its distinctive appearance and can be associated with strength, protection and connection with nature. The natural material keeps the symbolism subtle and closely connected to the idea of returning to nature.

If you wish, a personal letter or a few dried flowers can be included at the farewell. Choose this water urn when a natural, handmade farewell at sea or on the water feels right for the person you wish to remember.
