The vase comes with a removable plastic inner vase. In freezing conditions, the inner vase should be taken out temporarily. Standing water expands when it freezes and can crack the inner vase if left in place. Removing it takes a moment. The outer bronze body is frost-resistant and does not need any additional protection during winter.
