Fitting and day-to-day care

The base of the vase has a recess designed to fix onto a plug secured into the memorial, and we recommend having it fitted this way. A vase that is not fixed can shift slightly on natural stone, and any fine grit or sand that gets underneath will gradually scratch the surface. Fitting it properly protects both the vase and the stone beneath it. The vase comes with a plastic inner vase, which should be removed during periods of hard frost. Plastic can crack when water inside it freezes, so taking it out for the winter months keeps it in good condition for the rest of the year. Aluminium itself is unaffected by frost.
