An angel that stays where your thoughts return to
Some objects hold a presence that words struggle to describe. This freestanding bronze angel is one of them. It gives you a fixed point, somewhere to look, to pause, to feel close to the person you are remembering.
Cast by the lost-wax method
This sculpture is made using the traditional lost-wax casting process, known in French as cire perdue. Each piece begins as an individually modelled wax figure, which is then encased in a mould, cast in bronze, and finished entirely by hand. The patination is applied after casting. The process demands precision, patience, and a deep understanding of the material. No two pieces come out identical. What arrives with you is a genuinely handcrafted bronze original, not an industrially produced replica.
Fully three-dimensional, stable on any surface
The angel is worked in full three dimensions, so it holds its form and character from every angle. A dowel on the base anchors it securely to the surface you choose, with no plinth or support required. Whether you place it on a windowsill, a shelf, or a grave, it stands with quiet assurance.
Bronze outdoors and indoors: what to expect over time
Bronze is one of the few materials that genuinely suits both indoor and outdoor placement, and the reason lies in how it responds to time and weather. Rather than degrading, bronze develops a natural patina as it ages. That layer forms a protective skin on the metal and gives the sculpture increasing depth of character. On a grave or in a memorial garden, that quality carries real meaning: a tribute that changes quietly alongside the seasons.
Stable in rain, frost and direct sun
Bronze holds its form reliably in rain, frost, and prolonged sun exposure. You do not need to bring the sculpture inside at the turn of seasons or ahead of poor weather. For outdoor placement, a firm, level surface helps keep the dowel anchor seated correctly. Indoors, any stable surface will do.
Straightforward to maintain
Bronze requires very little attention. An annual application of bronze wax, or a light buff with a soft cloth, is sufficient to keep the sculpture in good condition. The patina that develops naturally over time is not damage. It is an inherent characteristic of the material and does not need to be removed.
The angel as a considered choice
The angel is one of the oldest figures people have used to express the sense that someone continues to watch over them. It carries no single religious meaning. It speaks to a wish, shared across many traditions and none, that something endures. If you want to make the bond you shared with someone visible in a physical object, the angel expresses exactly that: a presence that remains.
Making it specific to one person
If you would like the sculpture to speak unmistakably of a particular person, a small engraving plate can be placed alongside it, carrying a name, a date, or a phrase that belonged to them. That single addition shifts the figure from a general symbol into something that stands for him or her alone. We can talk through the options with you if you are unsure what to include.
If you are ready to order, the sculpture can be added to your basket directly. If you have questions about placement, sizing, or personalisation, we are happy to help you think it through at your own pace.
