A name held in stone

Natural stone already carries a sense of permanence. When you add engraved text, that permanence becomes personal. A name, a date, a short phrase: not printed onto the surface, but cut into the stone itself and anchored there.

Sandblasting: a skilled process

The text is engraved into the urn by sandblasting. Fine grains of sand are directed at high pressure into the stone, creating lettering that sits below the surface rather than on it. The result does not peel, fade or wear away over time. Once sandblasted, the text can be filled with paint to make the letters stand out clearly against the natural colour of the stone. Sandblasting demands real technical knowledge. Every type of natural stone responds differently to pressure and grain size, and that precision shows in the sharpness and consistency of the finished engraving.

What you can have engraved

A name and dates are the most common choice, but the engraving can also carry an initial, a brief quotation or a line that belonged to the person you are remembering. That is the difference between keeping an urn and keeping a memory. The engraving makes the urn specifically and unmistakably about them.

Delivery time and design approval

Because each engraving is prepared and applied individually, text engraving adds approximately three weeks to the standard delivery time. That additional time begins once you have reviewed and approved the proposed design. The urn is not sent to be engraved until that approval is confirmed.

Check your text carefully before submitting

Engraving in natural stone is permanent. There is no way to correct or remove sandblasted lettering once it has been applied. Please read through your text more than once before submitting it, checking the spelling, punctuation and order of any names or dates. If you are unsure about the wording, take the time you need. The engraving will wait for you.
