A double urn in grade 316 stainless steel

This urn for ashes is crafted in the Netherlands by hand, using grade 316 stainless steel. That specific alloy, containing iron, chromium, nickel and carbon, offers significantly better resistance to corrosion than the more common grade 304. Each piece is finished with a directional grind that catches light differently depending on the angle, giving the surface a quiet, shifting lustre. The result sits naturally alongside modern and classical memorials in stainless steel, glass and natural stone.

The meaning behind the form

The 'Arms' design holds two separate spaces. Most often, both are used for ashes, allowing a couple or two people who were close to rest together. You might also choose to keep ashes in one side and a personal object in the other, something small that belonged to the person you are remembering. That decision is entirely yours, and the urn accommodates it either way.

Laser engraving as a personalisation option

Laser engraving is available for this urn. A computer-guided laser works directly into the steel surface with precision, and can render imagery in both grey tones and colour. The quality of the engraved result depends on the resolution of the file you supply, so the clearer the image, the sharper the outcome. When you place your order, you will find an option to select engraving and upload your chosen image or text at that stage.

Filling and sealing the urn

Every accessory needed to fill and seal the urn is supplied with it, including an ash bag, a cable tie, and a cleaning cloth. The ash bag can be used as a funnel during filling, and is then secured and placed inside the opening. If you prefer to place the ashes directly without a bag, that is straightforward with this material. Grade 316 stainless steel is non-porous and the seal is fully airtight, so moisture is not a concern. The lid closes flush with the body and, once pressed firmly into place, the base sits completely flat. If you would rather have the crematorium or funeral director fill the urn, that is equally possible. Should the urn ever need reopening, our technicians can do that for you.

Practical considerations

This funeral urn is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The grade 316 steel resists weather and requires no special maintenance. The urn is supplied without the sockle shown in some product images. Lead time is four to six weeks from order, as each piece is made to order by hand in the Netherlands. A ten-year guarantee applies.
