Returning to the water, in a way that was true to them
If you have chosen to scatter ashes at sea, you want that moment to feel right. The urn you use should reflect who your loved one was, not work against it. This biodegradable sea urn was made for exactly that: it floats briefly on the surface, sinks gently, and dissolves completely in the water that mattered so much to them.
Handmade from mulberry bark and banana leaves
The urn is made by hand from the bark of the mulberry tree. The bark is carefully removed without harming the tree, and new bark grows back naturally, making it a genuinely renewable material with no felling required. The harvested bark is cooked into a soft pulp, combined with flowers from the Ixora plant, and spread by hand onto wooden frames to dry in the sun. No harmful substances are added at any stage. The blue colour and natural texture come from banana leaves woven into the outer surface. Each urn takes patience and skill to produce, and you can see that in the finished piece.
What this urn does on the water
Once placed on the water, the urn floats for a short time before sinking in a calm, unhurried way. Within a few days it breaks down completely and naturally. The ashes return to the water without residue or intervention of any kind.
A choice that honours the bond you shared
Water has carried the idea of return and release for as long as people have found comfort in it. If the sea, a river or open water held real meaning in your loved one's life, or if you both simply know this is the right farewell, this cremation urn carries that meaning plainly. You do not need to explain the choice to anyone. It speaks for itself.
Ethical production, independently certified
Production meets the SMETA 4-Pillar standard, which covers environmental responsibility, business integrity and fair working conditions. This urn for ashes is fully biodegradable, made without deforestation, dried in the sun without chemical additives, and produced under verified ethical conditions. If knowing how something is made matters to you, this production process stands up to scrutiny.
- Hand-formed from mulberry bark pulp and Ixora plant flowers, dried in natural sunlight

Practical guidance before use
This urn is made for outdoor use on open water and is designed to dissolve on contact with it. Because the material is paper-based, it is sensitive to moisture before it reaches the water. Keep the urn in a dry place from the moment you receive it until the day you use it. Any exposure to damp beforehand can weaken the structure and affect how it performs at the moment that matters most. When the urn arrives, check it over for any signs of transit damage so you have time to resolve anything before the day.
If you are unsure which option is right for the farewell you have in mind, we are happy to talk it through with you at whatever pace suits you.
