Returning to the earth, gently and completely
Some farewells call for something that reflects how a person lived. If the person you are saying goodbye to cared about the natural world, this biodegradable cremation urn was made with exactly that in mind.
What this urn is made from
The urn is built from clay and raw materials of exclusively plant-based or mineral origin. No synthetic substances, no chemical additives. That is not a marketing claim: it is a production standard verified by GreenLeave, an independent foundation that tests funeral products against strict sustainability criteria. This urn carries the GreenLeave Approved label. Each piece is handmade by specialist producers whose entire process is built around environmental responsibility, and you can see that care in the finish of every urn.
How it works in practice
This urn for ashes is suitable for burial in the ground and for a sea funeral. When buried, it breaks down over roughly three to six months depending on soil composition and moisture. The ashes are released gradually as the materials are absorbed into the earth. For a sea funeral, the urn dissolves fully in approximately seven hours. The urn is supplied with a biodegradable ash bag and a matching adhesive strip. Dampen the strip, place it along the rim of the urn, and set the lid in position. The seal forms on its own and holds the urn securely closed until the moment of committal.
Stability before the funeral
A reasonable concern with any biodegradable cremation urn is whether it will remain stable before the service takes place. This urn handles normal indoor conditions well and tolerates brief outdoor exposure. It is not designed for extended outdoor display over weeks or months, so keep it dry and sealed until burial or the sea committal. The adhesive strip provides a reliable closure once the ash bag is in place, and there is no need for additional fixings.
The meaning of the white
The white finish is quiet and uncluttered. It draws no attention to itself, leaving space for what matters: the memory of the person, the values they held, and the farewell you are giving them. White here is not blankness. It is openness. If the life you are marking was one lived with care for the world, this urn reflects that without any further explanation needed.
A farewell shaped by what mattered to them
Choosing this urn is a decision grounded in the same values the person you loved lived by. The materials return to the earth cleanly. The water is not compromised. The soil receives something back rather than absorbing something foreign. That completeness is part of what makes this farewell feel right.
If you have questions about burial options, sea funerals, or which size is right, we are happy to talk it through with you at whatever pace suits.
