When a farewell becomes the beginning of something new
Not every urn is meant to be kept on a shelf. This bamboo keepsake urn is made to be returned, to the earth, to nature, to the cycle of life itself. If you are looking for a farewell that moves forward rather than stands still, this urn speaks to that feeling.
Hand-worked from a real bamboo stem
This urn for ashes is crafted from an actual bamboo stem, worked by hand rather than moulded or pressed. Bamboo is not a composite material or an imitation of something else. It is one of the fastest-growing plants on earth, fully biodegradable, and stores considerably more CO2 than timber. That makes this a choice that feels right on a personal level and on an environmental one.
How the ashes become part of new life
The urn comes with a 70 mm coconut tablet containing a starter nutrient and lavender seeds. Using it is straightforward.
- Fill the urn with the cremation ashes
- Place the coconut tablet on top of the urn and water it until it expands
- Bury the urn in the ground and cover it with soil
- Growth begins after three to four weeks; the best sowing period is March through to June
- Over the years, the bamboo stem naturally breaks down, and the roots eventually reach the ashes, absorbing them as the tree matures
If you would prefer to plant your own sapling or cutting above the urn rather than use the lavender seeds, that works just as well. The upper segment can be covered with the included disc to protect the ashes naturally while the planting takes hold.
Why lavender is a considered choice
Lavender is not a generic plant. It returns every year, it carries a distinctive scent, and it draws bees and life around it. If you are remembering someone who loved open air, gardens, or quiet outdoor spaces, that memory grows on in this plant in a way you will notice with each new season. It is not symbolic on paper. It is something you actually see.
Practical details worth knowing
Bamboo is naturally resistant to moisture and weather, which is precisely why it suits burial in the ground. It requires no treatment and breaks down at its own pace, exactly as intended for a cremation urn of this kind.
An important note on capacity
This is a keepsake urn, not a full-capacity urn for ashes. It holds only a portion of the ashes, not the complete volume from an adult cremation. If you are unsure whether the size suits what you have in mind, it is worth checking before ordering. You are also free to plant a sapling or cutting of your own choosing above the urn if lavender is not the right fit for the person you are remembering.
If you would like to talk through whether this cremation urn is the right choice for the farewell you have in mind, we are happy to help you think it through at your own pace.
