Three planes, one enduring form
Some urns demand attention. This one simply holds it. The bronze 'Triangle' is built from three connected planes that meet to create a sheltered, contained space. The geometry is deliberate: a triangle is one of the most stable structures in existence, three points joined in a form that does not shift. That stability carries meaning here.
Hand-welded in the Netherlands from sheet bronze
Each urn is made by hand in the Netherlands. Sheet bronze is cut, bent and welded by specialist craftspeople to produce the triangular form you see. Welding at this scale demands precision: every join determines the integrity of the line and the strength of the whole piece. This is not cast or moulded bronze. It is worked by hand, which is why the lead time is four to six weeks, though most urns are despatched sooner. If you need a clearer delivery estimate, contact us by chat or email and we will check for you.
Patina applied by hand
Once the form is complete, a patina is applied by hand. This is a coloured oxide layer that gives the bronze its character and tone. Because it is applied manually, no two urns are identical in colour gradation or texture. You choose between green and brown, two distinct finishes with different qualities of light and surface. The urn that arrives with you will be the only one of its kind.
Caring for a bronze cremation urn
Bronze itself does not deteriorate. It is one of the most durable materials used in memorial objects. The patina, however, does require some attention, and what that involves depends on the finish you choose.
Green patina: what to know
The green patina is a relatively delicate layer. Clean it only with a soft cloth, water and mild soap. Do not scrub. Over time the tone will settle and become more even, which is a natural part of how this finish ages.
Brown patina: what to know
The brown patina is sealed with a light wax coating that halts the oxidation process and prevents the bronze from developing a green tone over time. Indoors, keeping the surface dust-free is sufficient. If the urn is placed outside, the wax layer will need refreshing at least once every two years, depending on the position and weather conditions. Apply beeswax with a cloth, allow it to absorb, then buff it off.
Placement indoors and outdoors
This funeral urn is suitable for both indoor and outdoor placement. If you are siting it outside, factor the patina maintenance into your plans from the start, so that the urn looks as you intend it to for years to come.
Filling the urn
Everything you need to fill and seal the urn is supplied with it. The seal uses double-sided tape with a high-tensile bond that holds securely once applied. The process is straightforward, and the steps below will guide you through it.
- Empty the supplied ash bag into the urn, leaving a portion outside to act as a funnel, then pour the ashes in through that opening.
- Seal the ash bag with the supplied cable tie and tuck it fully into the urn's opening. If you prefer not to use an ash bag, skip the bag steps and use a funnel instead to avoid spillage.
- Make sure the inner seating edge of the urn is completely free of dust, grease and moisture before sealing. Use the cleaning cloth provided.
- Remove the protective film from the lid, position it carefully against the rim, then press it firmly and evenly into place in a single motion. A correctly seated lid sits flush with the surface.
- If you would prefer not to fill the urn yourself, the crematorium or funeral director can do this for you. Should the urn ever need to be reopened, our own technicians can carry that out.
Making it yours
The bond you shared was particular to the two of you. If you would like the urn to reflect that, there are ways to make it more personal. If you have a specific design in mind, it is possible to work with us on a custom piece. Send a sketch, a photograph or a reference, and we will develop a design from that and provide a quote for your approval.
If you would like to talk through your options, including custom work or any questions about patina choice or placement, get in touch and we will work through it with you at whatever pace suits.
