A flame that stays lit
Some people leave behind a presence you continue to feel. The 'Eternal Flame' bronze cremation urn is built on that idea: the flame as an image of what someone meant to you, held in a material that lasts.
Handcrafted in the Netherlands
Each urn is made by hand in the Netherlands by specialist craftspeople using high-quality bronze sheet, which is cut, welded and shaped into its final form. That process demands precision and patience, and you see the result in every piece. The coloured patina is applied by hand after shaping, and because it reacts differently to each individual surface, no two urns are exactly alike. That is not a marketing claim. It is simply how bronze behaves.
Green or brown patina finish
The colour comes from a patina, an oxide layer applied to the bronze after finishing. Two finishes are available:
- Green patina: wipe with a soft cloth, water and mild soap. The layer is delicate, so avoid scrubbing. Over the years, the green tone settles into a more even character.
- Brown patina: finished with a light wax coating that slows oxidation. Indoors, simply keep it dust-free. Outdoors, the wax layer should be refreshed at least once every two years: work in beeswax with a cloth, allow it to absorb, then buff gently.
What the eternal flame can mean for this person
A flame is never still. It moves, shifts colour, responds to its surroundings, but does not simply go out. If you are remembering someone who gave energy to the people around them, that image fits. The bond you shared does not need to be summarised anywhere. But it can take a form you see every day.
A design made to your specification
If you have something particular in mind, a bespoke urn for ashes can be developed together with you. Send a sketch, a photograph or a reference, and a design will be drawn up with a quotation for your approval. It is an option worth knowing about if a standard form does not feel right.
Bronze in practice: what to expect
Bronze does not deteriorate. The base material requires no maintenance and this urn is suitable for both indoor and outdoor placement. The patina does ask a little attention, depending on the finish you choose and where the urn is positioned. That is not a weakness of the material. It is simply a characteristic of bronze, and one that is easily managed with straightforward care.
Filling and sealing the urn
Everything needed to fill and seal the urn is supplied with it. A high-adhesion double-sided closure tape is included, rated for considerable tensile load. An ash bag and cable tie are also provided. To fill the urn, place the ash bag inside with the top left protruding to act as a funnel, pour the ashes in, seal the bag with the cable tie and tuck it into the opening. If you prefer not to use the ash bag, a household funnel is recommended to avoid spillage. Once filled, ensure the inner rim is completely free of dust, grease and moisture using the cloth provided, then press the lid firmly into place in a single movement. A correctly seated lid sits flush with the surface. The urn can also be filled by the crematorium or funeral director if you prefer, and if the urn ever needs to be reopened, that can be arranged.
Lead time
Because each urn for ashes is made individually by hand in the Netherlands, the lead time is four to six weeks. In practice it is often sooner, but a six-week estimate is given to avoid disappointment. If you need to know the current lead time before ordering, get in touch via chat or by email and the team will give you an accurate figure.
If you would like help choosing between the green and brown patina, or if you are considering a bespoke design, feel free to get in touch. There is no obligation, and you will receive straightforward, attentive advice at whatever pace suits you.
